About Me
Introduction
Hi, I'm Zheng Yizhen, a would-be interior designer who likes playing video games. I am currently studying for my undergraduate degree in Hebei University from 2019 to 2023. I am not a person who can bear hardships, and I especially have high requirements for living comfort. Therefore, I hope to be a designer who can bring people comfortable living environment.
Who am I?
I am a person who loves to enjoy life and have a deep connection with architecture. My grandfather and father were both engineers engaged in the construction industry. But I like painting since childhood, always fantasize about decorating my own room or some interesting scenes. Therefore, when choosing a major, I chose interior design without hesitation. I want to design a space that feels comfortable and relaxing.
What is my passion?
In my spare time, I like playing video games, cooking, playing the piano and reading. I like to be alone indoors doing what I like. Therefore, I have a high demand for comfortable indoor environment, which has become one of my design concepts: to design the building space in accordance with the different environment and user needs.
What is my deisgn philosophy?

Natural
I want to make my design closer to nature, better integrate into the surrounding natural environment, make it more environmentally friendly and sustainable, and make users more relaxed.

Flexible
I want to create a more flexible design that can adapt to and meet the needs of different groups of people, so that more people can enjoy the convenience and beauty of design.

Innovation
I want to find and use more new design techniques, learn more about new materials, and apply them into my design to create more novel experiences.

Steel and Industrial Memory
My site is an abandoned factory. This factory used to be a boiler factory, which was abandoned later due to urban economic transformation. Communities grew up around it. There are many old people and children in the community. Children lack the companionship of their parents, and the elderly are lonely. Therefore, I want to transform this site into a community activity center to provide activities and communication space for the elderly and children. This site focuses on flexible movement and reuses the abandoned industrial and construction waste to provide flexible activity space for children and the elderly.
Since the theme of this factory is industrial history, I explored how steel can be used in architecture. I chose as my research object the remaining crane in the factory, which is composed of rusty steel and pulley blocks. Thin steel is easy to twist, and rusty steel gives a sense of history and the passage of time. My theme is to call on adults to pay more attention to the elderly and children, while rust can bring people thinking about the past and lead people to review the industrial history. The reuse of waste steel can also arouse people's thinking and therefore call people to pay attention to the elderly. Looking back on history can also help children gain some new knowledge. The pulley block and the track can be moved, which not only represents the movement of time, but also reminds me of the mobility of space. The movable space can maximize the use of the space, enrich the function of the space, and meet the needs of different users in different occasions.
My project
What are we doing?

This project is the Hollow Village renovation project, taking the unique banyan tree in the village as the design theme, the Hollow village located in the ancient town of Nanlong Buyi in Guizhou Province, China was rebuilt and rebuilt as a tourist attraction in order to promote the development of the village. I am in charge of area A, whose transformed function is a tourist service center, which is responsible for guiding tourists to understand the scenic spot.

Subliminal Retail Installation
The project is designed for the retail store of clothing brand Uma Wang. This sub-brand is a teahouse. The overall design is in line with the original brand's design concept of "close to nature, enjoy life". The main users of the original brand are taken as the target users for the design, and the original brand is promoted by displaying the design concept and materials of the original brand.

The Installation Journey
The project is a narrative installation for the animated film Princess Mononoke. The project mainly divides the film into four parts and shows the emotions reflected respectively, hoping that users can feel the emotions expressed by watching these four parts.
